I recruited members of the Zabaleen community as potential users of the app to ensure Zibal-T met their needs, and the experience was to their liking. Recruitment for the Zabaleen focus groups was initiated via a visit to a community church mass. The priests were enthusiastic about the app and took on the initiative to introduce me to the community members and asked them to cooperate for the community’s future good.

Invitation to Playtest Zibal-T

Members of the focus groups conducted usability testing by way of walkthroughs. I provided the participants with scenarios and task flows on the Marvel prototype. During a walkthrough, as a moderator and note taker, I guided the conversations with the participants in the use of the app and encouraged participants to “think aloud”. They provide feedback on challenges they experience with the proposed workflow.

Play testing Zibal-T with different Zabaleen members:

  • provoked participants’ critical thinking after envisioning and imagining the possible future economic and social changes that the technology will bring.

  • allowed me to gather data about the user interface.

After the playtesting sessions, I grouped the combined observations and analyzed them to find the users pain points and determined how to fix them. Usability testing can result in major cost savings or revenue increases.
